Mercury touches 40°C in Ratlam, Heat wave warnings for isolated areas of Narmadapuram, Dhar districts as well

Temperatures across Madhya Pradesh continued their upward march as the mercury touched 40°C in Ratlam, with heat wave conditions taking hold in parts of the State and dry weather persisting across all divisions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ratlam recorded the highest maximum temperature of 40°C in the State, where severe heat wave conditions were reported. Other districts also witnessed soaring temperatures, with Narmadapuram recording 39.9°C, followed by Dhar at 39.4°C, Talun in Barwani district at 39.3°C, and Berasia in Bhopal district at 38.9°C. Temperatures were 3.2°C to 4.5°C above normal in districts of Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Chambal, Rewa, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions, while Gwalior and Sagar divisions recorded temperatures markedly above normal by 5.6°C to 5.7°C, indicating a sharp rise in daytime heat.
 
Minimum temperatures also remained largely above normal in several areas. While Bhopal division recorded temperatures slightly below normal by around 1.7°C, districts in Gwalior, Rewa and Sagar divisions reported minimum temperatures 1.6°C to 2.3°C above normal, and Chambal division recorded appreciably above normal temperatures by about 3.2°C. Among the coolest locations, Pachmarhi recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 11.2°C, followed by Karoundi in Katni at 11.4°C and Kalyanpur in Shahdol at 12.7°C. In contrast, Kannod in Dewas recorded the highest minimum temperature at 21.7°C.
