In accordance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and under the guidance of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Bilaspur, the National Lok Adalat is being organised on March 14 2026 at the
District Court Durg and its subordinate courts.
The National Lok Adalat here will be formally inaugurated by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, Ramesh Sinha.
The occasion will be further honoured by the presence of Justice Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh and Portfolio Judge for District Durg.
For the conduct of the National Lok Adalat, a total of 39 benches have been constituted at the District Court Durg, Family Court Durg, and Civil Courts at Bhilai-3, Patan, Dhamdha, and other courts, where various categories of cases will be taken up for amicable settlement.
Mobile van facilities will be made available for litigants who are unable to appear before the court due to old age, illness, or other genuine
difficulties to facilitate their
participation.
Proceedings of the Lok Adalat will be conducted through both physical and virtual modes.
An exhibition-cum-sale stall showcasing handicrafts, paintings, and other products prepared by inmates of the Central Jail, Durg and free health check-up camp will also be organised in collaboration with the Health Department.Under the urban body by-election, a total of 2 posts of Chairman are vacant in Municipal Council Sarangarh (Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district) and Municipal Council Shivpur-Charcha (Korea district) respectively, along with 15 posts of councilors.
Apart from this, 4 posts of Chairman and a total of 60 posts of councilors are vacant in the four newly formed bodies - Nagar Panchayat Ghumka (Rajnandgaon district), Nagar Panchayat Bamhnidih (Janjgir-Champa district), Nagar Panchayat Shivnandanpur (Surajpur district) and Nagar Panchayat Palari (Balod district).
Similarly, in the three-tier Panchayats, eight District Panchayat member posts, 78 Sarpanch posts, and 1,056 Panch posts are vacant. Thus, a total of 1,142 posts are vacant in the 33 districts, for which elections will be held. According to the programme issued for preparation of electoral rolls, the training of Registration Officers,
Assistant Registration Officers and authorised officers will be conducted by March 24 and the printing of electoral rolls will be done by April 9. The preliminary publication of the electoral rolls will be done on April 13, after which claims and objections will be received. The last date for receiving claims and objections has been fixed as April 20, while the last date for submitting claims in Form A-1 will be April 24. An appeal against the registration officer’s order resolving claims and objections may be filed before the competent authority within five days of the date of such order. The final publication of the electoral roll will be held on May 5.
