Crime Branch team raided a house and seized hoarding of total 35 domestic LPG cylinders under the jurisdiction of Adhartal police station on Thursday night. The raid was conducted at residence of Pradeep Sahu (55), son of Rooplal Sahu, a resident of Jagdamba Colony in Maharajpur area.
According to police, the raid was conducted at the residence of Pradeep Sahu in Maharajpur area. During the search, officials recovered 8 filled cylinders, 27 empty cylinders, 4 commercial cylinders and 2 small cylinders belonging to Bharat and Indane companies. The accused had been involved in illegal sale and black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders for a long time. After receiving information about the activity, Crime Branch team raided the premises and recovered a large number of cylinders.
Administrative officials also reached the spot during the operation.
The cylinders were seized in the presence of the Naib Tehsildar, Patwari and officials from the Food Department, after which legal action was initiated. Meanwhile, Sampat Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police, appealed to citizens not to pay attention to rumours regarding a shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the district. He clarified that there is adequate availability of domestic gas cylinders and supply is continuing normally.
The SP said that some people, due to rumours, are unnecessarily stockpiling cylinders, which is causing inconvenience to the public.
He also noted that technical issues have been
reported on the booking portal due to heavy load, and efforts are underway to resolve them soon. Police have warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing or misleading the public regarding LPG supply. Citizens have been urged to inform the control room if they receive information about illegal sale or storage of gas cylinders.
