Passengers on West Central Railway’s (WCR’s) Mahamana Express, travelling from Bhopal to Khajuraho, panicked when smoke filled a coach. The incident occurred near Udaypura, between Lalitpur and Tikamgarh, on Saturday. Passengers were forced to disembark after smoke filled the D-4 coach of the train. It is reported that Bhopal-Khajuraho Mahamana Express (train number 22163) was travelling from Lalitpur to Tikamgarh when smoke suddenly began to fill D-4 coach near Udaypura.
 
On seeing the smoke, passengers panicked and the train was immediately stopped. As soon as the train stopped, passengers disembarked. The train remained stationary for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, while Railway staff attempted to control the situation. Passengers on the train said that rumors of a fire had spread near Udaipur.
 
The train was suddenly stopped near Udaypura. During this time, passengers from D4 coach started getting down with their bags. There was chaos for 15 to 20 minutes. Railway staff went to the spot and inspected. After the situation became normal, the train left for Tikamgarh station. Railway administration said that smoke came out of the coach due to sticking of brakes. There was no fire incident in the train. Udaypura Railway staff and Mahamana train staff are being questioned in this regard. After the situation became normal, the train left for further journey and reached Tikamgarh station with a delay of about half an hour.
