A lane in Wright Town that was once known for garbage and neglect has now been transformed into a lively public space named ‘Sanskar Gali’ under a special cleanliness initiative of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC). Located in front of Hawa Mahal, the lane has been redeveloped to promote cleanliness along with recreation and community participation. With the makeover, residents can now use the lane for morning and evening walks and also enjoy traditional indoor games such as carrom arranged in the area. The walls of the lane have been decorated with paintings depicting the cultural and historical identity of Jabalpur, giving the place an attractive and lively look. The initiative aims to create a clean and engaging space for citizens while also encouraging people to maintain their surroundings. A main aspect of the campaign was the participation of city leaders. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, In-charge of health Committee Rajni Kailash Sahu and Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar, on Sunday personally joined the effort and picked up paint brushes to help beautify the walls. Their participation boosted the morale of municipal workers and conveyed a message that maintaining the city’s cleanliness is a shared responsibility. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women from the area also took part enthusiastically in the initiative. Their participation added a special dimension to the programme and highlighted the role of women in community development. JMC officials said the transformation of the lane reflects how collective efforts can turn neglected spaces into places of pride and recreation for citizens.
