The Bhilai Steel Plant Officers’ Association organised the Steel Women Run 2026 at Pragati Bhawan, Civic Centre, Bhilai, to mark the beginning of International Women’s Day celebrations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from women officers of Bhilai Steel Plant and created a festive atmosphere filled with energy and excitement.
The programme began early in the morning with music and traditional drum beats as participants gathered at the venue. The event started with a Zumba warm-up session, after which the run was formally inaugurated by Vinita Dwivedi, CMO (Medical and Health Services), who was present as the chief guest. The participants also released balloons to symbolically mark the start of the Women’s Day celebrations. A two-kilometre run was organised as part of the event, where women officers participated with great enthusiasm. The run was flagged off by Narendra Kumar Banchhor, Chairman of SEFI and President of the Officers’ Association, along with Vinita Dwivedi. The participants received loud applause and encouragement from spectators standing along the route.
Addressing the gathering, Narendra Kumar Banchhor highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment in the steel community. He said the initiative was started three years ago to provide a platform for women officers and strengthen mutual cooperation among them. He also shared that the current executive committee of the Officers’ Association includes ten women officers, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to promoting women’s representation.
Vinita Dwivedi appreciated the initiative and encouraged women officers to continue working with confidence and teamwork. General Secretary Ankur Mishra said the run symbolised the strength, leadership and dedication of women officers who contribute significantly to the growth of the organisation. Medical assistance, first-aid facilities and refreshments were arranged for participants. Winners and participants were later felicitated during a prize distribution ceremony held at the venue.
