In an action against illegal mining and transportation, the Raipur Traffic Police seized five Hyva trucks transporting sand without valid royalty permits during a late-night checking drive. The vehicles have been handed over to the Mining Department for further legal action.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Vikas Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic & Protocol), and led by Vivek Shukla on the night of April 18. During checking at key locations including Pachpedi Naka Chowk, Fafadih Chowk and near Telibandha Police Station, traffic police teams intercepted multiple Hyva trucks. Upon inspection, five vehicles were found to be carrying sand without paying royalty, indicating illegal extraction and transportation.
The seized vehicles have been handed over to officials of the Mining Department, including Rajesh Malve (Deputy Director), Umesh Bhargav, and Stuti Nigam for further proceedings under relevant mining laws. Seized vehicles are CG 04 QN 1944 – Driver: Neeraj Sahu | Owner: Chitrendra Sahu (District Bemetara), CG 04 QB 5457 – Driver: Ranjit Sahu | Owner: Tukaram Sahu (District Bemetara), CG 04 QC 9190 – Driver: Ramcharan Yadav | Owner: Rajesh Sahu (Raipur), CG 06 GZ 6405 – Owner: Cheema Bricks and Traders (District Mahasamund), and CG 08 AS 9599 – Owner: Bhagwati Nishad (Village Sargi, District Dhamtari).
Officials said the action is part of an ongoing drive to curb illegal mining and ensure compliance with transport and royalty regulations.
