State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rakesh Singh performed bhoomipujan and inaugurated development works worth around Rs 250 crore at various locations across the city.
At Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Gaurighat, Singh laid the foundation stone for a 100 seat girls’ hostel and I-type residential building costing Rs 7.70 crore, a 50-seat boys’ hostel worth Rs 4.32 crore and a pharmacy building estimated at Rs 4.86 crore. In Ranjhi, he also performed bhoomipujan for a 7.5 km four lane road from Ranjhi to Pipariya-Umaria, to be built at a cost of Rs 43.48 crore.
In another major project, foundation was laid for a 13.13 km four lane road connecting Jabalpur Airport to the Ring Road, with an estimated cost of Rs 172.41 crore. The minister also inaugurated a 3.13 km white-topping road from Rani Durgavati University to Allahabad Bank Chowk and from JM Heights Road to the Army Camp in the Cantonment area, built at a cost of Rs 16.51 crore.
Addressing a gathering at Gaurighat, Singh highlighted the importance of Ayurveda, calling it a valuable legacy of India. He said the country has a rich tradition of medical knowledge and Ayurveda continues to play a vital role in healthcare. He urged students to become responsible doctors and citizens, noting that patients look up to doctors with trust and faith. At public meetings held in Ranjhi and near GS College,
Singh said the Department is committed to public welfare through infrastructure development. He added that Jabalpur is rapidly transforming into a modern city with large scale projects being carried out.
Singh also spoke about the ‘Lok Path’ mobile application, encouraging citizens to report potholes for quick redressal. He said the app also provides route information and details of public facilities.
He further highlighted water conservation initiatives, including the construction of 506 ‘Lok Kalyan Sarovars’ across the State and said green building concepts are being adopted in Government projects.
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, MLA Ashok Rohani, MLA Neeraj Singh, MLA Santosh Barkade and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
