A Woman was burned alive inside her home under Tilda Neora police station area in the state capital Raipur on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Kumari Sahu (55). The incident occurred
in Lakhna village under the
jurisdiction of Tilda Neora
Police Station.
According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the woman was alone at home. Neighbours reported hearing her screams from inside the house. When they rushed to help, they found the door locked from the inside while flames engulfed the room.
In a desperate attempt to save her, villagers climbed onto the roof and tried to douse the fire. After considerable effort, they managed to bring the blaze under control. However, by the time they could reach her, Kumari Sahu had already sustained severe burn injuries and succumbed. A police team reached the spot, recovered the body and initiated preliminary procedures. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and circumstances leading to the incident.
