Weather conditions in the State have changed suddenly, bringing relief from searing heat but raising concerns. After days of intense heat, several parts of the State are now witnessing storms, rain and hail activity.
The Weather Department has issued an alert for 42 districts, including Jabalpur. It has also issued warning of thunderstorms and winds reaching up to 60 km per hour. Hailstorm is also likely in nine districts of Jabalpur and Indore divisions. The weather condition is expected to continue till April 6.
A new western disturbance is likely to become active from April 7, which may again alter conditions till April 10. In city, sky remained overcast since morning, indicating continued instability. Weather change has increased worry among farmers, especially due to possible damage to standing wheat crops.
Spokesman of Weather Department informed that multiple systems including a western disturbance, cyclonic circulation and a trough are active. Strong jet stream winds at high altitude are also influencing the weather. After this phase, heat is expected to intensify in the third and fourth week of April, with temperature likely to reach 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in several regions, along with possible heat wave conditions in Bundelkhand and eastern part of the State. 2
