Staff Reporter :
A GRAND ‘Swachhata Cycle
Rally’ was organised by the
Jabalpur Municipal Corporation
(JMC) on Sunday morning to
boost the city’s chances in the
Swachh Survekshan 2025-26
national rankings.
The rally started at 6.30 am
from the Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation headquarters.
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, other public representatives and
Municipal Commissioner
Ramprakash Ahirwar led the rally on bicycles. It concluded near
Satpura Club in Civil Lines.
The participants did not stop
at cycling. They picked up
brooms and cleaned the streets
alongside the sanitation team.
They also painted walls at the rally's conclusion point to brighten the area. The Municipal
Corporation has pledged to fully transform the Civil Lines
stretch along the railway station
road within 24 hours, adding
greenery and modern lighting.
At the closing ceremony, the
Mayor administered a cleanliness pledge to those present.
“Jabalpur is our home. We will
neither litter ourselves nor allow
others to do so,” he said.
The rally also carried a message
in accordance with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's call to save fuel
and reduce pollution. Participants
were urged to adopt cycling as a
regular habit to contribute to the
country's economic progress and
environmental health.
On the occasion, public representatives made an emotional appeal to citizens to actively
participate in the Swachh
Survekshan 2025-26. They said
a people’s movement is needed to put Jabalpur at the top of
the national cleanliness map.
Hundreds of citizens joined
the rally along with JMC officers and sanitation workers.
