THE Nagpur Divisional Sports Excellence Centre under the Mission Lakshyavedh scheme will conduct selection trials for Athletics at the Divisional Sports Complex, Koradi Road, Mankapur, on May 19. The trials will begin at 6:30 am at the Athletics Pavilion of the complex. The initiative aims to identify talented athletes from the division for specialised training under the state government’s flagship sports programme. According to officials from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Nagpur Division, selected athletes will receive high-quality coaching, boarding and lodging facilities, sports medicine support, nutritional diet, sports gear and financial assistance for competitions through the Mission Lakshyavedh scheme. The programme focuses on grooming promising talent to excel at state, national and international levels.
 
Aspiring athletes must be Under-25 year of age. Participants should be residents of Maharashtra and possess the following documents (originals along with self-attested photocopies) birth certificate, school/college bonafide certificate or leaving certificate, domicile certificate, aadhaar card, sports achievement certificates of the last two years (State-level medal or National participation – SGFI, AFI, Khelo India National only), three recent passport-size colour photographs, parent’s consent letter, medical fitness certificate from a government-recognised doctor. Candidates will be evaluated on their past sports performance, sports skills and fitness tests. Selected players will undergo training at the Nagpur Divisional Sports Excellence Centre. All interested and eligible athletes have been advised to report on time with complete documents. Arrangements for stay and food will have to be made by the participants themselves.
