Mercury soars to 45°C in Rajgarh, Temperature to rise further by 2 to 3 degrees: IMD

Maximum temperatures surged well above normal limits in the State, pushing the mercury to a blistering 45°C in Rajgarh. According to the latest data issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhopal, heatwave conditions have firmly established themselves over several districts, with the prediction for a gradual increase in temperatures by another 2 to 3 degrees over the next two days.
Extreme Temperatures: Rajgarh and Ratlam Boil
The State witnessed a sharp thermal contrasts, with Rajgarh recording the State’s highest maximum temperature at 45.0°C, closely followed by Ratlam at 44.8°C, Vidisha at 44.6°C, and Khandwa at 44.5°C. Meanwhile, day temperatures stayed 1.8°C to 2.2°C above normal across the Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain divisions. In a sharp contrast, the scenic hill station of Pachmarhi remained the coolest spot in the State, recording both the lowest maximum temperature of 35.6°C and the lowest minimum temperature of 19.6°C. Night temperatures also remained uncomfortably warm elsewhere, with Talun (Barwani) recording a high minimum temperature of 31.5°C and Indore/Sagar staying warm at 29.0°C.
Isolated rain in Rewa amid advancing monsoon
While dry weather prevailed across almost all the divisions of the State, isolated pockets in the Rewa division received light rainfall and experienced thunderstorm activity. Chief amounts of rainfall were recorded in Gudh (5 mm) and Huzur (2 mm).
On a broader synoptic level, the IMD noted that the Southwest Monsoon has successfully advanced into more parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, the Comorin area, parts of the Bay of Bengal, and the entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Conditions remain highly favourable for its further advancement over the next 3 to 4 days. Additionally, a Western Disturbance persists as a cyclonic circulation over north Iran, alongside minor cyclonic circulations over northeast Uttar Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, with a weather trough extending from West Madhya Pradesh down to South Interior Karnataka.
Bhopal Forecast: Clear skies and 44°C peak
For the capital city and its neighbourhood, residents should brace for dry and scorching conditions. Temperatures in the capital are expected to hover around a maximum of 44°C and a minimum of 29°C.
This follows Monday morning’s recorded maximum of 42.7°C (1.2°C departure from normal) and a minimum of 28.5°C in the city.

Severe Heat Wave Warning: Issued for isolated places in Datia, Bhind, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari districts.
Heat Wave Warning: Issued for isolated areas across a vast swath of the state, including Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur, Satna, Narsinghpur, Panna, Damoh, and Sagar.
