The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Raipur Centre, has forecast light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds in several parts of Chhattisgarh over the next five days. According to the weather report, isolated places in the state may witness lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kmph. The weather department said a trough extending from South Odisha to the Gulf of Mannar through Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is influencing weather conditions across the region. In the past 24 hours, temperatures across Chhattisgarh recorded a drop of around 1 to 4 degrees Celsius, while isolated areas also experienced thunderstorms and hailstorms.

Rajnandgaon recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 42 degrees Celsius, while Pendra Road registered the lowest minimum temperature at 19.6 degrees Celsius. Raipur recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius. The IMD has stated that there is no possibility of any major rise in temperature during the next three days. A further drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is likely after that period. For Raipur city, the forecast for May 2 suggests mainly clear skies with partial cloud cover likely during the afternoon or evening.
