Workers sensitised on legal rights; information provided on free legal aid, Government schemes

ON THE occasion of International Labour Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bhopal organised legal awareness camps across various sectors of the city on Friday.
These camps were held at the Afcons Metro Rail Project site at Ratnagiri, Raisen Road, and at Kolar Road, where workers were briefed on their legal rights and Government welfare schemes. Organised under the guidance of Manoj Kumar Srivastava, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of DLSA Bhopal, the primary objective of these programmes was to prevent the exploitation of workers and provide them with legal
assistance.The camp held at the Metro Rail project site saw the participation of nearly 200 workers. During the event, Sunit Agrawal, Secretary of DLSA, highlighted the importance of the E-Shram card and the Sambal Yojana. He urged all workers to mandatorily register for the E-Shram card to ensure they receive direct benefits from Government schemes.
It was also clarified during the session that the Authority provides free legal counsel to workers who cannot afford the expenses of court cases.
To promote environmental conservation, a plantation drive was also conducted during the programme. Additionally, a special interaction session was organised for workers in the unorganised sector at D-Mart Square, Kolar Road. The Secretary personally addressed the grievances of the labourers and provided on-the-spot guidance for their resolution. Representatives from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) present at the site also collected applications regarding the workers’ issues. The Secretary directed that for any problems related to receiving scheme benefits, workers can apply directly to the District Legal Services Authority. Prompt action will be ensured by coordinating with the Labour Department. Officials t and representatives of labour unions were also present at the camps.
