Without power for past 5 days

A severe lack of basic amenities has pushed Bargi Nagar Sub-Health Centre into absolute disarray. For the last five days, the facility has been entirely without electricity, leaving staff with no choice but to conduct critical check-ups for pregnant women and vaccinations for newborn infants outdoors under the shade of a tree. According to sources, the healthcare facility is currently being single-handedly managed by just a Multi-Purpose Worker (MPW) and a Community Health Officer (CHO). MPW Mukesh Awasthi revealed that the power outage was triggered after a main electricity line snapped near a utility pole. Despite repeated requests and formal complaints lodged with the electricity department, no repair work has been initiated. The power failure has exacerbated conditions during a period of intense summer heat, significantly affecting both patients and medical staff.

Compounding the irony of the situation, the Health Department has already constructed a brand-new hospital building in Bargi at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.33 crore, intended to operate as a Primary Health Centre. However, due to administrative negligence, the new building remains locked up, depriving the public of its intended benefits. The current dilapidated sub-health centre is responsible for the medical needs of a population of nearly 10,000 people across several villages beyond the Narmada River, including Gangda, Ghullapath, Magardha, Nai Basti, Salivada, Binjha, Khamkheda, Midki, Kathoutiya and Badaiyakheda. Faced with a severe shortage of resources, local residents have collectively demanded immediate intervention from higher authorities. They are calling for the urgent appointment of permanent doctors, pathology staff, operational delivery facilities and adequate medical personnel to restore proper healthcare services to the rural populace.
