A housewife residing in the Shahjahanabad area was defrauded of approximately Rs 4.5 lakh by cyber criminals under the pretext of a Google Store rating job. Shabana reported receiving a message on Telegram two years ago offering employment opportunities. Initially, the scammers provided small profits to gain the victim’s trust. Subsequently, they coerced the victim into depositing funds under the guise of investment, promising higher returns. When the victim attempted to withdraw the accumulated funds, the fraudsters claimed the work was incomplete and demanded further payments. After depositing additional money to release the funds, the victim was asked to pay another Rs 7 lakh. Recognising the fraud, the victim ceased payments and approached the Cyber Crime Branch. Following the complaint, Shahjahanabad police have registered a case against unidentified suspects.
Mobile hacking results in financial theft: In a separate incident within the same locality, a resident named Vivek Kumar fell victim to a mobile hacking scam, losing Rs 32,000. Seven months ago, the victim received a link for an unknown application, which was downloaded onto their device. This action compromised the security of the mobile phone, allowing the hackers to gain unauthorised access. Consequently, a total of Rs 32,000 was debited from the victim’s credit card in a single transaction.
A complaint was filed with the cyber helpline, and the local police have since registered a case of fraud against unknown perpetrators.
Trading scam drains 1.25 lakh from private employee: A private employee named Rahul Vishwakarma, a resident of Dwarika Nagar in Bajaraiya, was swindled out of Rs 1.25 lakh in an online trading scam. While dining at a restaurant on Kolar Road with friends seven months ago, the victim encountered information regarding online trading on a mobile device. Lured by the promise of quick financial gains, the victim created an account and initially invested Rs 10,000, which yielded a small profit. Encouraged by the initial success, the victim continued to invest more capital, eventually totalling Rs 1.25 lakh. However, when the victim sought to withdraw the funds, the promised
returns never materialised. Upon discovering the cyber helpline, a complaint was lodged, leading Bajaraiya police to register a case against the unidentified fraudsters. Share trading fraud causes Rs 7.5 lakh loss in Semra: Another significant case of cyber fraud has emerged in the Semra area, where a resident named Sunil Kumar Suryavanshi was duped of 7.5 lakh rupees. The victim was targeted by individuals claiming to offer high returns through share trading. Over a period of time, the victim transferred funds into accounts provided by the fraudulent company. As the investment amount reached the range of several lakhs, the victim attempted to withdraw the capital. The company refused to process the withdrawal, and the victim realised that the entire operation was a deceptive scheme.
