Farmers stage protest at Mandi premises against misconduct of trader

Hundreds of farmers under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh staged a strong protest at the mandi premises, on Monday. They raised slogans against the administration and submitted a memorandum to SDM Abhishek Singh, demanding strict action. The demonstration was staged against the misconduct with farmers by a trader during wheat procurement process at Krishi Upaj Mandi, on April 29 District President Ramdas Patel charged that farmers Shivkumar Jhariya, Rajkumar Patel, and Pawan from Majholi tehsil brought their wheat to the mandi for sale on April 29. A trader placed a bid and purchased the produce, but later refused to accept it after the wheat was unloaded, impurities such as soil and stones.
 
The trader misbehaved and abused the farmers. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. Farmers had demanded immediate cancellation of the trader’s license, but alleged that no action was taken by mandi authorities. District Secretary Dhananjay Patel further claimed that when the affected farmer approached Vijay Nagar Police Station to lodge a complaint, police personnel refused to register it. He criticized the administration, saying farmers are being ignored despite pro-farmer policies. State Vice President Mohan Tiwari warned that if action is not taken and an FIR is not registered, the organization will intensify protests at the district headquarters.
