By Srinivasan Umashankar :
It was fascinating to read the article titled ‘Of doing nothing to bust stress in stressful times’ by Vijay Phanshikar published in the CityLine edition dated May 3. While briefly covering different methods for busting stress that are usually prescribed by doctors/psychologists and pursued by the people, Vijay Phanshikar has consciously attempted to suggest a novel and yet simple technique of “Doing nothing” for a while in the stressful times to get relief from tension, strain, anxieties, and whatever such others one might say. Interestingly, that is even while drawing a critical difference between “Not doing anything” and “doing nothing” for better clarity in understanding the matter. The former has a negative note and the latter a positive one. Surely, there cannot be any other best way of explaining the “doing nothing” approach than the one stated by Vijay Phanshikar in his insightful article that once put into practice can bring one a sense of utmost quietness.
Yes, it is our experience that when the mind is cool & calm; one is at peace with oneself. I have also liked the most reading the concluding part of the article when Vijay Phanshikar says in a way that can also add value to one’s thinking or wisdom. It is today a fast paced world that demands keeping pace with the changing times & need by constantly updating knowledge and sharpening one’s skill. They always make the environment around them conducive and charged by their mere presence. The article is well seconded by Dr Rashmin Deshmukh in the Readers’ Response column in the edition dated May 4 of CityLine. Yes, do nothing when you get the next best opportunity. Compliments to ‘The Hitavada’ for carrying another motivating piece and look forward to reading more such matters of great interest that broadens & strengthens our mind power and by also lifting our spirit.
