Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s (RTMNU) result system has once again come under sharp scrutiny, with over 700 winter-2025 examination results declared beyond the prescribed deadline — leaving thousands of students in academic limbo.
Even as RTMNU claims to have declared results for 1,223 out of 1,261 winter examinations, a worrying gap remains — 705 results were released after the stipulated deadline. The claim offers little comfort to those whose futures now hang in the balance. For them, the delay is not a statistic — it is a lost opportunity.
Students aiming for higher education, especially abroad, are bearing the brunt. With strict admission timelines and non-negotiable document requirements, many are unable to secure seats despite qualifying, simply because RTMNU failed to deliver results on time.
“Universities are asking for final marksheets. We have none to submit,” said a frustrated student.
RTMNU’s Winter 2025 examinations began on November 26, 2025 and concluded in February, 2026. Usually the results are declared within 30 days of the last paper. University did declare results of 357 examinations within 30 days. The results of 161 examinations were declared between 31 and 45 days. But declaration of results of 705 examinations took more than 45 days. According to sources, some results were declared even after one-and-a-half months.
The recurring delays have exposed systemic inefficiencies in the university’s evaluation and result-processing machinery. Critics argue that despite repeated complaints year after year, no structural reforms have been implemented, turning what should be a routine academic process into a recurring crisis.
The larger question remains: how long will administrative lapses continue to derail students’ careers? For hundreds waiting anxiously, every passing day is not just a delay — it is a narrowing window of opportunity. The repeated delays have raised concerns over the university’s evaluation and result-processing system, with students urging RTMNU to streamline its mechanism and ensure adherence to academic timelines.
RTMNU is facing several issues due to the new software that came after the present Vice Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar took charge. The issue was discussed in the Senate meeting and members criticised university for the same. Dr Kshirsagar constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of Adv Manmohan Bajpayee. Bajpayee Committee till now heard all the officials working in the examination department plus the software company. Meanwhile new Vice Chancellor replaced Manish Zodpe with Motiram Tadas as Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation. Dr Kshirsagar herself is monitoring the examination and result system.
