Business Reporter :
Amid rising temperatures, changing climatic conditions and growing environmental imbalance, tree plantation and environmental conservation have gained significant importance. Taking a remarkable step towards ecological preservation, the developer of the ambitious ‘London Street’ project being developed in the city, has launched a large-scale tree plantation drive. Notably, thousands of trees are being planted and nurtured even before the required tree cutting for the project begins.
The project is being developed in the Khamla to Jaitala Road area by Prafullved Infra Pvt. Ltd. on plots number 3, 4 and 5. For construction work on plot number 5, permission to remove 73 trees was granted by the Garden Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation on June 21, 2023. As per regulations, plantation of 2,561 trees was mandatory in compensation.
However, demonstrating environmental responsibility, the company planted nearly 3,000 trees, exceeding the required number.
Under this initiative, 2,500 trees have been planted in the Telangkhedi area and 500 trees in the Dabha area.
The plantation drive is not being treated as a mere formality; instead, modern technology is being used for effective conservation and maintenance. Geo-tagging of trees has been carried out to continuously monitor their growth and condition.
In addition, the company has also received permission to remove 205 trees from plots number 3 and 4. In exchange, a target of planting 6,698 trees has been set.
However, the company has not cut a single tree in this area so far. On the contrary, the planned plantation work has already commenced.
Around 2,000 trees have already been planted in the Telangkhedi area, while plantation work for the remaining trees is underway in the Bhandewadi area. So far, the company has planted a total of 4,082 trees in the Telangkhedi region,
says a press release issued
by the company.
“Along with development work, fulfilling the responsibility of environmental conservation is equally important. Therefore, not a single tree on plots number 3 and 4 will be cut until the target of planting 6,698 trees is achieved. Our commitment towards environmental protection will continue in the future as well,” said company director Prafull Deshmukh.
