BJP appoints Dr Kothekar as State Vice President

Staff Reporter :

Bharatiya Janata Party State President Ravindra Chavan has appointed Dr Upendra Kothekar as State Vice President. Since he has been handling the responsibility of the party as Vidarbha Organisational Secretary since long, he will continue taking care of Vidarbha. Dr Kothekar is considered as an important pillar of BJP in Vidarbha. A soft-spoken Dr Kothekar has been serving the party for the last four decades. A silent, but effective worker, Dr Kothekar always played a vital role when it came to party’s strategy.

His presence as Organisational Secretary helped party in strengthening its roots in Vidarbha. Considering his larger contribution, the party has brought him up in State body. Jalgaon Jamod’s Dr Sanjay Kute has been named as Co-ordinator of Vidarbha for the party, while Dinesh Suryavanshi of Amravati and Nagpur MLA Pravin Datke will work as Convenor and Co-Convenor respectively. It was expected that Dr Kute may become minister as he was given Labour portfolio during Eknath Shinde-led Government. Dinesh Suryavanshi too is gaining importance because of his active participation in Amravati and especially, West Vidarbha. Chavan made him Convenor for Vidarbha. Similarly, in past few years, Pravin Datke is being portrayed by the party as its face. In recently-held polls of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Datke played a major role. He is actively involved in party planning and also as MLA. From Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to BJP, from office bearer of the party to public representative, Datke has made people feel his presence.
