Nagpur girls defeated Kolhapur 39-26 to qualify for the semi-final of the 51st Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Basketball Championship in Satara on Thursday.
In a low scoring quarter-final, Nagpur’s, Netra Damke top scored with 19 points while Krutika Sathawane netted 10 points as skipper Sara Gulalkari contributed seven points. For Kolhapur, Vidhi Samudre scored 10 points.
The quarter-wise scores in Nagpur’s favour read 11-9, 4-2, 8-6, 16-9.
Earlier in their last league game held late on Wednesday night Nagpur girls suffered their first defeat when they lost 16-39 against defending champions Pune.
Despite the defeat, Nagpur qualified for the quarter-final after winning their earlier two games against Aurangabad and Thane.
