Jayesh bags men’s singles TT title n Sports Reporter THE duo of Varda Kejgir and Utsav Meshram took home twin titles each while Jayesh Kulkarni bagged men’s singles title in the Shivaji Nagar Table Tennis Tournament that was held at University TT Hall recently. Varda pocketed the women’s singles crown and U-19 girls singles title while Utsav fought well for Under-17 and Under-15 boys singles titles. In women’s final, Varda lost the first game but then bounced back brilliantly to get the better of Bhumika Malode 07-11, 11-04, 11-04, 11-06. She required another four games in the Under-19 girls final defeating Purvi Kaur Renu 11-07, 11-08, 10-12, 11-09. Utsav rallied magnificently after being two games down against Manas Sharma in the Under-17 boys final. He won 07-11, 06-11, 11-06, 11-07, 11-01. In the Under-15 boys tittle clash, Utsav beat Karan Kashyap 11-09, 10-12, 11-09, 15-13 in four games with the last being the most entertaining with both players giving their best in the extended game. The men’s final was a rather one-sided affair.

 

Jayesh was just too good for Vaibhav Rane on the day scoring a 11-07, 11-06, 11-05 facile win to take home the crown. Shekhar Tongo, Vice-President of NDTTA distributed the prizes to winner and runners. Also present on the occasion were Adv Ashutosh Potnis, Secretary, MSTTA; Ajay Kamble, Chairman, Draw Committee and Rajesh Mopkar.
