Rainfall to remain dominant in district for next few days

Monsoon has become fully active across Madhya Pradesh, bringing widespread rainfall and pleasant weather. Moderate showers lashed several parts of Jabalpur on Sunday evening after a largely cloudy day. The rain brought relief from the recent spell of heat and humidity. Meanwhile, the weather department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in 20 districts and an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in few districts. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of up to 50 kmph are also likely. Spokesman of weather department informed that monsoon activity is expected to remain strong over the Jabalpur and adjoining districts for the next three days. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places across the region.
 
Spokesman further said that the active monsoon is being supported by a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal. Due to its impact, widespread rainfall is continuing across eastern Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur division. Jabalpur has received around 2.6 mm on Sunday. With that the total rainfall so far this monsoon season is 140.8 mm. The continuous showers have brought down both day and night temperatures. The maximum temperature settled at 34.0 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 24.4 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. The weather department has forecast intermittent rain over the next few days. Moderate to heavy showers, along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are likely at isolated places in Jabalpur and nearby districts.
