The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha jointly organised a students’ conference at the party’s divisional office on Monday to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. A symbolic exhibition dedicated to Dr Mookerjee, a signature campaign and sketch and rangoli competitions were organised during the programme. A special presentation for hearing and speech impaired students was also conducted with the help of a sign language interpreter. A large number of students attended the conference. Discussions were held on the role of youth in nation building, education, leadership, social responsibility and the nationalist ideals of Dr Mookerjee. Participants also pledged to contribute towards the country's development by following his ideals.

 

Addressing the gathering, senior party leaders said the younger generation should learn about the lives and sacrifices of great personalities who dedicated themselves to the unity and integrity of the nation. They said Dr Mookerjee opposed the permit system in Jammu and Kashmir and made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for national unity. BJP leaders also highlighted government initiatives aimed at encouraging innovation among young people and urged students to take advantage of such opportunities. BJP Mahila Morcha State President Ashwini Paranjpe termed students as the strength of the nation and called upon the youth to actively participate in nation building. She said Dr Mookerjee’s life and vision continue to inspire future generations. BJP Yuva Morcha State Vice-President Yogendra Singh spoke about Dr Mookerjee’s contribution to national integration. Several BJP office-bearers, party workers and students were present on the occasion.
