DEPUTY Chief Minister and Kanker in-charge Minister Arun Sao on Tuesday led a 2.5-km ëTiranga Yatraí here to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song ëVande Mataramí, as part of the ëHar Ghar Tirangaí campaign. The rally, flagged off from the sports ground of Government Narhardev Excellence English Medium School, culminated at the new ministadium via Ghadi Chowk, Upar-Niche Road, Masjid Chowk and Gandhi Chowk.
 
MLA Asharam Netam, Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Board chairperson Shalini Rajput, municipal president Arun Kaushik, Zila Panchayat president Kiran Nareti, collector Nilesh Kshirsagar, SP Nikhil Rakhecha and others joined. Students unfurled a 92-ft-long, 5- ft-wide Tricolour, while St Michael English Schoolís band troupe played patriotic tunes. Participants sang ëVande Mataramí as citizens showered flowers and distributed chocolates along the route. The event, organised on directives from the Union Culture Ministry and Chhattisgarhís Culture Deparatment, aimed to encourage flag-hoisting at homes and foster patriotism.
