NAGPUR’S Shashruti Nakade
clinched agold medal in the
Mini Orange ITF Nationals Para
Triathl on that was held at Shri
Shiv Chhatrapati Sports
Complex, Pune on
Independence Day.
The event was hosted by the
Indian Triathlon Federation.
Shashruti emerged winner in
the endurance event competing in national meet where 83
paraathletes from all over India
participated in different categories.
In the Pune triathlon, that
served as selection trialsfor
international meet, the participants had to compete in three
events —250m swimming,
9.3km cycling and 2.4 km running. Shashruti took the top
podium spot with acombined
timing of 46.58 minutes.
“The performance took her
world rankings tonumber eight
and that made her eligible for
the World Triathlon
Championships to be held at
Pontevedra, Spain. The weeklong major event runs from
September23-27,”informed her
father Vinayak.
“Shashruti has won about 50
medals in national swimming
events and had also emerged
champion in the first two
nationals paratriathlons that
were conducted in 2021 and
2024. This triumph makes it a
hat-trick of golds in the national meet. Shetrains in all the
three discipline sunder Prashant
Karmakar at Bhiwani in
Haryana,” he added.
