CHHATTISGARH has secured two significant organisational responsibilities in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly announced national team, with Rajya Sabha MP Roop Kumari Choudhary appointed as the national president of the BJP Mahila Morcha and Deepak Mahske named the party’s national social media convenor. The appointments were announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin through a press release issued from the party’s central office in New Delhi on August 17. The appointments have come into effect immediately. Choudhary’s elevation to head the Mahila Morcha is the more prominent of the two appointments, placing a leader from Chhattisgarh at the helm of the BJP’s national women’s organisation. She will be responsible for leading the Mahila Morcha’s organisational activities and outreach across the country. Mahske, meanwhile, has been appointed national social media convenor, giving Chhattisgarh representation in an increasingly important area of the BJP’s national organisational structure.

The party has also appointed four national social media co-convenors from Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Haryana. The new appointments are part of a wider restructuring of the BJP’s national organisation. The list includes 13 national vice-presidents, national general secretaries, national secretaries, treasurer and other office-bearers, besides heads of the party’s various morchas and media and social media wings. For Chhattisgarh, the appointments assume added significance as they give the State representation in two important organisational domains - women’s mobilisation and digital outreach. Choudhary’s appointment also gives the state a prominent position in the BJP’s national women’s leadership structure. The BJP’s new national team includes leaders from several states and regions, with responsibilities distributed across organisational, communication and mass-outreach wings. The party said all appointments would take effect immediately.
