MONSOON activity has picked
up significantly across Eastern
and Central part of Madhya
Pradesh, bringing heavy downpours, lightning, and strong
squally winds to several regions.
According to the Meteorological
Centre Bhopal, eastern and central parts of the State witnessed
widespread rainfall, with Sihora
recording the highest rainfall at
120.3 mm, followed closely by
Majholi at 105.4 mm and
Pushprajgarh at 104.6 mm.
Jabalpur experienced very heavy
rainfall, while districts including
Anuppur, Sidhi, Singrauli, Bhind,
Umaria, and Mauganj recorded
heavy falls. Strong gusty winds
accompanied the rains, with
wind speeds reaching up to 37
km/h in Jabalpur and around 30
to 31 km/h in Gwalior, Sagar,
Guna, Anuppur, and Umaria.
Rain was recorded at most
places across the Rewa, Jabalpur,
Shahdol, and Sagar divisions,
while many areas in Bhopal,
Gwalior, and Chambal divisions
also received showers. Scattered
rainfall was reported in
Narmadapuram, with isolated
showers covering parts of Indore
and Ujjain divisions. Due to persistent cloud cover and showers,
daytime temperatures remained
1.80 C to 2.60 C below normal
across Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal,
Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar
divisions.
The highest maximum temperatures in the state
reached 32.20 C at Chitrakoot
(Satna) and Sidhi, while
Khargone recorded the lowest
minimum temperature at 17.20
C.
Multiple active weather systems - including a depression
over the northwest Bay of Bengal
and coastal West Bengal, along
with an upper air cyclonic circulation over West Madhya
Pradesh - are driving this wet
spell across the region. An
orange alert for very heavy rainfall ranging between 115.6 mm
and 204.4 mm is in place for
Balaghat and Rewa districts.
Meanwhile, a yellow watch for
heavy rainfall between 64.5 mm
and 115.5 mm, accompanied
by thunderstorms, lightning,
and gusty winds up to 40 km/h,
covers central and eastern districts including Jabalpur, Sagar,
Shahdol, Damoh, Katni,
Mandla, Dindori, Mauganj,
Sidhi, and Singrauli.
Thunderstorms and lightning
are also expected across almost
all districts of the Bhopal,
Gwalior, Chambal, and
Narmadapuram divisions, as
well as parts of Indore and Ujjain.
The State capital Bhopal is
expected to remain under a
generally cloudy sky through
Tuesday morning. Residents
can expect intermittent rain
accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with
average wind speeds between
10 to 12 km/h. Temperatures
in Bhopal are likely to hover
between a maximum of 270 C
and a minimum of 230 C.
