MONSOON activity has picked up significantly across Eastern and Central part of Madhya Pradesh, bringing heavy downpours, lightning, and strong squally winds to several regions. According to the Meteorological Centre Bhopal, eastern and central parts of the State witnessed widespread rainfall, with Sihora recording the highest rainfall at 120.3 mm, followed closely by Majholi at 105.4 mm and Pushprajgarh at 104.6 mm. Jabalpur experienced very heavy rainfall, while districts including Anuppur, Sidhi, Singrauli, Bhind, Umaria, and Mauganj recorded heavy falls. Strong gusty winds accompanied the rains, with wind speeds reaching up to 37 km/h in Jabalpur and around 30 to 31 km/h in Gwalior, Sagar, Guna, Anuppur, and Umaria. Rain was recorded at most places across the Rewa, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions, while many areas in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions also received showers. Scattered rainfall was reported in Narmadapuram, with isolated showers covering parts of Indore and Ujjain divisions. Due to persistent cloud cover and showers, daytime temperatures remained 1.80 C to 2.60 C below normal across Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions.

The highest maximum temperatures in the state reached 32.20 C at Chitrakoot (Satna) and Sidhi, while Khargone recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 17.20 C. Multiple active weather systems - including a depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal West Bengal, along with an upper air cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh - are driving this wet spell across the region. An orange alert for very heavy rainfall ranging between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm is in place for Balaghat and Rewa districts. Meanwhile, a yellow watch for heavy rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 40 km/h, covers central and eastern districts including Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol, Damoh, Katni, Mandla, Dindori, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected across almost all districts of the Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram divisions, as well as parts of Indore and Ujjain. The State capital Bhopal is expected to remain under a generally cloudy sky through Tuesday morning. Residents can expect intermittent rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with average wind speeds between 10 to 12 km/h. Temperatures in Bhopal are likely to hover between a maximum of 270 C and a minimum of 230 C.
