RAIPUR :
BHARAT Mangnani, accused
of allegedly killing Paramjit
Rangani by running him over
with a car, surrendered before
a court on August 18 following sustained police efforts to
apprehend him.
According to Amanaka
police, a complaint was lodged
at the police station on August 14
alleging that
Paramjit Rangani
had been intentionally run over
and killed by
Mangnani.
The incident
reportedly occurred amid
marriage discussions between
Paramjit Rangani and Shikha
Sahu. On August 14, Shikha
Sahu reached Tatibandh in a
white Volkswagen accompanied by her friend Bharat
Mangnani. She met Paramjit
near a gurdwara, where
Mangnani was also present.
Police said an argument
broke out between Mangnani
and Paramjit during their
interaction. The complainant
alleged that Mangnani, in a fit
of anger and with the intention of killing Paramjit, drove
the car at high speed and ran
him over.
Paramjit suffered serious
injuries and heavy bleeding.
Bystanders rushed him to a
hospital, where doctors
declared him dead. Mangnani
allegedly fled the spot in the
white Volkswagen following
the incident.
Based on the complaint, Amanaka police registered Crime
No 264/2026 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
and launched an investigation. Police said teams had been
conducting continuous raids at the accused’s suspected
hideouts and using technical surveillance and other methods to trace him. Following the sustained search operation
and mounting police pressure, Mangnani surrendered
before the court on August 18.
He was formally arrested and produced before the court,
which granted police remand. Police are questioning the
accused in detail to establish the circumstances surrounding
the death and are taking further legal action based on the
evidence collected during the investigation.
