Hudkeshwar Police have seized eight types of sharp weapons, a laptop and a large quantity of contraceptives from the residence of rape and kidnapping accused Nirmay Madhav Pakhare (19) in Thane. The seizure has given investigators fresh material to examine in the case involving the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. A Hudkeshwar Police team searched Pakhare’s residence in Thane as part of the investigation. Police seized eight knives and other sharp weapons. The seizure also included long knives, choppers and other cutting weapons. Police officials said the weapons were extremely sharp. Some of them appeared to have been recently sharpened. A laptop was also seized from the house. Police will send it to the forensic team for examination. Investigators also found a special box containing different types of contraceptives.

 

Several packets different types of contraceptives were seized from the box. Police are now examining why Pakhare had kept the weapons and contraceptives at his residence. The seized material will form part of the ongoing investigation. Pakhare’s parents are separated. He was living with his mother and elder brother. His mother is undergoing psychiatric treatment, police said. Meanwhile, Pakhare is currently admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). His condition is reported to be stable. He was admitted on Wednesday night after complaining of chest pain during a routine medical examination. Doctors advised hospitalisation for treatment and observation. His police custody ended on Thursday. The court then granted him magisterial custody.

 

However, he will be sent to jail only after he is discharged from the hospital. Police said his hospitalisation has affected parts of the investigation. Investigators are also trying to unlock Pakhare’s mobile phone. Police said he has refused to disclose its password. They suspect the phone contains important digital evidence related to the case. Police have already unlocked the survivor’s mobile phone. They are examining chats, call records and other digital data. The aim is to establish the sequence of events and verify other evidence. Pakhare was arrested after Hudkeshwar Police rescued the 16-year-old girl from a rented room in Dighori late on Monday night. According to police, the girl was found tied up. She had nearly 20 injuries, including knife wounds on her wrists and neck. Police alleged that Pakhare kept the girl captive for more than 30 hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted her. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, kidnapping and other relevant provisions of law. The investigation is continuing.
