ONCE again Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) drive has come under the scanner as evidence of reopening of ‘illegal’ commercial outlets (those which were sealed after Supreme Court’s direction) came to light. ‘The Hitavada’ too raised the issue prominently. The residents’ committee has questioned, What kind of sealing is this, where establishments remain closed during the day but open at night? At whose behest did the establishment, sealed under Supreme Court orders, reopen? The Samyukta Rahwasi Sangharsh Samiti has submitted a complaint to the Municipal Commissioner demanding the immediate re-sealing of ‘Sakshi Dhaba’, a survey of other establishments that have reopened after being sealed, and an investigation into the roles of responsible officials and operators, followed by appropriate legal action.

 

The committee questioned how the establishment, which had been sealed following Municipal Corporation action, managed to reopen. Did the Municipal Corporation grant permission to remove the seal or reopen the establishment? If no permission was granted, who removed or broke the seal, and why has no FIR been registered against them so far?
